To find the absolute best options, we tapped two makeup artists and five dermatologists, who not only offered up their favorite tinted moisturizers with SPF, but also spilled the deets on how to choose the right one for you. Then, we sought anonymous testers to get their honest input on the products and had editors give them a try to solidify a list of the 12 best options for every concern.
What to consider
SPF
When shopping, look for a broad-spectrum, water-resistant tinted sunscreen, ideally, with an SPF 30 or higher, according to guidelines outlined by the American Academy of Dermatology Association. This will provide the most protection from both UVA and UVB rays and visible light from the sun. Some options on this list only have an SPF of 20, so if you opt for one of those products, be sure to add on an on-the-go spray or a touch-up powder with SPF so you can keep yourself protected while out and about and amp up that SPF number.
Coverage
On this list, we included tinted moisturizers that range from medium to sheer coverage, but there are no high-coverage options on this list as most tinted moisturizers have a lighter, more daytime-appropriate coverage. The most high-coverage option on this list is the Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30. If you want more coverage without slacking on sun protection, you might find more luck searching for foundations with SPF. On the other hand, if you want no tint in your SPF product, simply opt for the best moisturizers with SPF.
Key Ingredients
Dermatologist Shari Sperling, DO, says there are a few solid ingredients to look out for in your tinted SPF products, one being antioxidants—some options on this list are packed with ingredients like vitamin C, vitamin E, and green tea—and the other being hyaluronic acid for hydration. Both of these also have pretty potent anti-aging properties, she adds. In the hydration category, glycerin and squalane are other popular ingredients in tinted moisturizers, as they attract water to the skin.
How we chose
For the past year, Women’s Health editors, including contributor Brigitt Early and associate fashion and commerce editor Lily Wohlner, tested the bestselling, most popular, and top-rated tinted moisturizers with SPF. Our team consulted five dermatologists and two makeup artists and sought our team of anonymous testers and our in-house editors for feedback to narrow down the best 12 moisturizers with SPF for a wide range of skincare needs and preferences.
This final list includes something for everyone from oily and acne-prone or dry and mature skin. So, what are you waiting for? Shop the 12 best tinted moisturizers with SPF for your glowiest (and most protected!) skin yet.

EltaMD UV Elements Tinted Sunscreen Moisturizer SPF 44
Pros
- Has the highest SPF on this list
- Ultra-hydrating with the addition of hyaluronic acid
Cons
- Some testers say they wish the formula wasn't as thick
If you're talking to a dermatologist about sun protection, chances are they'll tout Elta MD's sunscreens, including this tinted moisturizer. The professionals love it because the non-comedogenic formula does so much more than protect skin from both UVA and UVB rays. It's also packed with antioxidants and hyaluronic acid to offer anti-aging benefits, too, says Dr. Sperling. As a nice bonus, it's water-resistant for up to 40 minutes, so swimming is also fair game in this formula, which is an added plus in the summertime.

It's also packed with antioxidants and vitamins for even more skin-nourishing benefits, too.
One of our testers loves this formula so much because of how smoothly it applies to her skin. She notes that it's super lightweight, so most people can't even tell she's wearing anything, but it also smooths the skin and makes it look glowy in the most natural way. Her only complaint? She wishes the SPF number was higher.

Pros

- Non-comedogenic
Cons
- Testers say the finish is a bit oily-looking
This vegan and non-comedogenic formula is not only super gentle for more sensitive skin types, but it also works hard to color correct, hydrate, and protect against UVA and UVB rays, says dermatologist Debra Jaliman, MD. The SPF 30 formula is a fantastic primer for makeup—it's lightweight, but conceals and smooths blemishes to create the perfect canvas for layering.

Best For Combination Skin
Revision Skincare Intellishade Original SPF 45
Pros
- Packed with good-for-skin ingredients
- High SPF
Cons
- Expensive, but Dr. Shainhouse says she likes that it has a higher SPF
It may be pricey, but this tinted moisturizer with sunscreen packs a powerful punch of ingredients your skin will love: antioxidants like green tea and vitamin E, humectants like aloe, glycerin, and squalane, and skin smoothers like dimethicone. It also boasts a higher SPF than most comparable products, says dermatologist Tsippora Shainhouse, MD. Users love the protection almost as much as they love the dewy glow the product leaves in its wake.
I personally use this formula when I want a slight amount of tint—say, for the gym or a pool day—but nothing too obvious or thick. It's definitely sheer, but it serves a purpose when you don't want to look done-up. Plus, the high SPF makes it an everyday staple.

Best For Rosacea
Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30
Pros
- Lightweight and buildable
- Offers great coverage
Cons
- Some testers complain that the sunscreen scent is too strong
You can't ask for much more out of a tinted moisturizer, says makeup artist Kelli J. Bartlett. And that's because it covers more than your average formula, expertly blurring imperfections and even helping to improve the look of conditions like rosacea. Still, it's lightweight and oil-free, so it'll never feel like you have makeup caked on—no matter how much product you layer on.
This is my all-time favorite tinted moisturizer with SPF, as it makes my skin look like porcelain without looking heavy or cakey. I always keep it in my makeup bag because I truly can't go without it when I'm out and about for the day. Without fail, it keeps my skin protected with the high SPF 30.

Pros
- Lightweight and buildable
- Oil-free
Cons
- Low SPF number, so may need to be re-applied often
If you don't need something that offers a ton of coverage, just a product to offer a little pick-me-up, this lightweight and oil-free option is for you, says professional makeup artist Jillian Dempsey.
In addition to the SPF 20 protection, the formula includes vitamins A, C, and E to nourish skin and chamomile to soothe any redness or irritation.
Our tester, whose 50 years old, loves how this tinted moisturizer gives her just enough coverage, but not too much that she can't add concealer. She also loves that this formula includes SPF, so it protects her aging skin from the sun. Just note that it needs to be re-applied often as it's a lower SPF.

Saie Slip Tint Dewy Tinted Moisturizer SPF 35 Sunscreen
Pros
- Ultra-hydrating

Cons
- Some testers complain about the scent
The sheer, dewy finish is enviable, but what we really love is this formula's lineup of superstar ingredients. It contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump, pansy flower, an antioxidant that works in tandem with the hyaluronic acid for even more moisture, and licorice root extract to brighten skin.
Our tester, who has acne-prone skin, says this makes her face look super glowy without adding excess shine. Plus, it never makes her break out, which she says is almost impossible to find when using a tinted moisturizer.
